We would also like to remind you that Myles will be touring with Slash this summer while the rest of us are touring with Creed. We plan to re-unite as Alter Bridge in October and tour the world, starting in the UK, to support our upcoming album that we are recording right now. We have also been told that, on the Slash tour, Myles will be singing old GNR songs that Slash has not performed since that band broke up. We think that will be worth the price of admission alone. Along with Slash’s new material, we are also told Myles may sing an AB song or two.

Slash told The Pulse of Radio that he’s really pleased to have Myles Kennedy singing on the tour. “He was one of these sort of youngish rock singers that I wasn’t real familiar with, who is probably one of the best, you know, young new rock singers around,” he said. “There’s actually two songs on the record that he did, and he can basically perform any other songs on the record, plus he knows how to do all the Guns N’ Roses stuff. So it’s worked out nicely.”

So there you have it. Slash knows what we in AB have known for a while. Myles is simply one of the best, if not the best, rock singers around today. And this summer, Slash will also find out what an incredible musician he is as well. That tour will be a sight to behold.

And lastly, we are proud to announce that, last night, Myles finished recording the vocals on song #6 of 17, as the recording of our third album (ABIII) continues. We will update you again as news warrants.

Hello Alter Bridge Nation,

Not much to report other than that we are still working hard, recording our third album. As of today (Monday, March 15th) we are done recording the drums, bass and all of the rhythm guitar parts. Mark is now recording his lead guitar parts (he is through 10 of 15 of them) and, as of last night, Myles has completed his singing on 5 of the 17 songs that we are recording. Again, only the best of those 17 songs will make the album and we are going to hold off on describing what we are creating until the recording is finished. We can tell you that the decision process for what songs will make the album is going to be extremely difficult but we will cross that bridge (no pun intended) when we get there.

We will update you again soon and we will leave you with a photo of Myles singing in the studio…

Hello Alter Bridge Nation,

We are proud to announce that drum and bass tracking on our third album is now complete. The next phase is the recording of the guitars, which Mark and Myles began on Monday. The songs are shaping up really well and we are looking forward to unleashing them on the world later this year. We do not want to talk too much about the songs now, as they are still in the formative process. But know this… the four of us are creating these songs exactly the way we want with absolute freedom. And only the best of the best of the 17 songs we record will make the album.

We also want to let you know that Slash recently did an interview where he talks about Myles and the upcoming summer tour they will be doing together. The big news is that Slash revealed that they will be playing a few of our songs on tour, along with a song or two from Myles’ upcoming solo project along with some old GNR tunes so you will not want to miss it. Hello Alter Bridge Nation,

The recording process is moving forward and we could not be more excited about the songs that we are creating. Flip has finished all of his drum tracking and Brian will be finished recording all of his bass tracks by the end of this evening. Then, starting this weekend, Mark and Myles will begin recording guitars.

Our fearless manager, Steve Wood, snapped a few photos while down here in Miami and we thought that we would share them with you. First up, a view from the air of where we are recording.

It all started yesterday when we arrived in Miami, FL. First, there was a ton of equipment to bring in…

After that, everything was set up to begin to track…

We spent the rest of last night getting sounds for Flip’s drums as he is scheduled to be the first one to lay down tracks. Here is what his set-up looks like…

And now it is time for Flip to officially lay down the first tracks on our third album. We plan on recording 16 songs but as we have said before, only the best of the best will make the final cut. Stay tuned and we will update you more as the recording process unfolds.

We wanted to let you know we are back at work on the Pre-production today for “Alter Bridge III” after taking a break over the weekend to re-charge. We would like to make it clear, in case there is some confusion with all the different projects we have going on, that Myles will not begin the Slash Tour until we are finished recording Alter Bridge III. We wanted to let all of you know that we are in the middle of Pre-production on our third album (which we are calling AB3 for now) with our producer, Michael “Elvis” Baskette. Pre-production is the process in which we bounce all our song ideas off Elvis, finalize the arrangements, and choose which songs ultimately make the album before we record. We are very excited with how the songs we wrote for our third album are turning out so far and, as of last night, we have 10 songs fully arranged. We are going to keep writing and arranging right up until we feel we are ready to record and we still have about 10 more songs that are in various stages of completion we still need to go through and finalize. The ultimate goal is to whittle it down to about 15 songs that we will end up recording. All 15 may not make the final cut on the album but we always feel it is a good idea to record a few extra songs just in case. The first day of recording is drawing closer and we will let you know when it happens in a future update.

As some of you may know, Dan Catullo of DC3 has teamed up with a bunch of artists to deliver aid, doctors and supplies on a plane bound for Haiti. We supported this effort along with other artists such as Godsmack and Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine) and New Kids On The Block, to name a few. We were not going to publicize our involvement as we choose to do our charity work in private, but a letter we just received changed our minds.

Dan’s assistant sent us an email with the title “Please Help” that reads as follows…

Hey guys, I am SO sorry to keep bugging you all. But Dan is reporting back how truly HORRIBLE things are there. He said its like the Apocalypse. It is SO important to get people texting to donate. Can you guys impress upon your fans that the faster we raise $ for more trips, the faster we can send more aid. They saw over 600 patients today in a make-shift hospital with only 2 doctors and 2 nurses. But they are running out of supplies. They were in an area closest to the epicenter that hadn’t gotten ANY aid until they showed up. It is beyond urgent to spread the word and get more supplies there as soon as possible. Thanks so much for your help and patience, the situation is dire and thesepeople need help ASAP

Hello Alter Bridge Nation,

We’ve been working hard over the past few months, writing pretty much non-stop and trying to make our third album the best that it can be. We’ve taken a huge step in the right direction by enlisting the talented Michael “Elvis” Baskette to produce our third album. For those that do not know… “Elvis” was the producer on our last album, Blackbird, so we already have an amazing working relationship with him. “Elvis” has spent the last few days with us doing pre-production work. He is leaving soon but will be back with us again for more pre-production in a week, after we write some more material. Here is a photo of all of us together last night…

Right now, we have about 17 songs finished with several more in various stages of being put together. We’re not sure how many songs will actually make the album but we promise you only the best of the best. We plan to get right back to the writing today and we will not stop until we are satisfied. We are getting closer to the recording process but we feel we are not quite ready yet. There are still a few exciting musical ideas we have yet to explore.

We still hope to have this album finished by the end of the summer and we are looking at October to start touring. From what we hear from management, Europe will be our first stop and we can not wait to get back. We’re also very excited to tour the USA and other places throughout the world that we have not been yet and when we have more info on when and where this will occur, we will let you know.

But for now, we are solely focused on the writing and we need to get back to it. So we’ll leave you with a few photos of us jamming in our rehearsal space. Spread the word that we will be back with a vengeance, later in 2010!

We just wanted to check in and let you know that the writing sessions for our third album have been coming along amazingly, so far. We feel that we have five songs that are "album ready" at this point, and we are in the process of figuring out several more. In fact, there are many song ideas we have yet to touch on. So, all in all, we are very happy with the progress thus far. We plan on writing through the weekend, at which point we will halt things to spend time with our families over the Holiday Season. After New Year's Day, we plan to get right back into Mark's studio to continue writing.

Rock radio station KSHE, in St. Louis, is reporting that Mark Tremonti has given them an idea of what to expect of Alter Bridge’s third album, which is being written right now….

 ”Well, me and Myles, we come from different places, so if it was completely up to me, it would be a much heavier, riffier, just kick-ass fun to play record, with the best melodies that you could fit into a more progressive sound. I think that’s always been our goal, is to have the music be as interesting and orchestrated as possible without losing the song. So it’s finding that balance.”

Our own Mark Tremonti recently spoke to Gary Graff from Billboard.com and revealed to the world that he and Myles Kennedy have now regrouped in Florida to continue writing on the third album. He also stated that the band hopes to be ready to hit the studio in February. His plan is to have Alter Bridge start touring in Europe in October, with North American dates expected in late 2010 and 2011, followed by European festival appearances that summer.

“Me and Myles need to get on the same page with our ideas, and once we’re there we’ll realize what kind of work load we have,” Tremonti says. “We don’t have much time to spare. We feel like we’re cutting it really close, but I feel like I’m very well organized at this point, which makes me feel better.”

We are pleased to announce that full band writing sessions for our third album will resume in the first week of December when Myles will fly down to Florida. We hope to get the writing done by the end of January so that we may start recording in February. Mark is hard at work writing songs (he never stops) for the upcoming album as we speak. We are very excited to meet up in December and we will keep you posted when the process starts.

Right now, Myles is locked up in a recording studio until December laying down tracks for his solo project. We are all psyched to hear what our brother in music comes up with as we are sure it will be astounding. We’ll update you with more on this once Myles emerges from the studio.

We spoke to our Director, Dan Catullo, last night to get an update on the status of our DVD. The bad news is that our legal issues with Universal regarding the retail distribution delay have not been resolved. This is infuriating. However, our managers are working hard to right this obvious wrong but we do not have a clear idea, right now, on when a worldwide retail release will happen. It could be delayed until next year.

That being said, we think it would be a crime to make our loyal fans wait any longer to see this concert so we are working hard to make the DVD available online as quick as we can. The version we are selling online is the FULL concert with all the songs played that night in Amsterdam.

The good news is that the USA and Canada fans can purchase Alter Bridge - Live in Amsterdam…. RIGHT NOW! We know that on amazon it says “Usually ships between 1 and 2 months”. THIS IS INCORRECT! UK and and European Fans - Our director has told us tons of DVD’s in the PAL format have been shipped to amazon.co.uk to be sold ASAP! The amazon UK will not put up a listing of the product until they receive it so keep checking that site often as it could go up any day now.

To our other fans worldwide, not included in the areas above… please be patient. If we can not get it out to your country, we should have it up for digital download in the upcoming weeks which should work for everybody. We’ll post another blog when we have more info on that.

I would like to apologize on behalf of everyone in the Alter Bridge camp for the delayed release of “Live in Amsterdam.”

Frankly, it’s embarrassing to say the least.

Many of you have inquired as to why the date has been pushed back.  The answer is that a couple of things came up that were way out of our control.  It’s hard to navigate through the complex maze of the music industry without making a few mistakes along the way. Not to mention, we also screwed up by not making it known sooner that the plan had changed.  Our bad.   

I spoke with management today and they assured me they would have a release date secured ASAP.  

To those of you who took the time to try and find it at retail and came up empty…I am so sorry.  

Hopefully, once it’s released it will have been worth the wait and inconvenience.

It is with a heavy heart that we have to inform you that our DVD, Alter Bridge - Live From Amsterdam, has been delayed temporarily.

We spoke to our manager and he has informed us that some legal issues have arisen with our old label, Wind-Up, and our current label, Universal. He hopes to have these issues resolved soon and we are hoping to announce a new release date next week.

We deeply regret this delay and as soon as we hear word when our DVD will be released worldwide we will post a new blog, so make sure to check back.

Hello Alter Bridge Nation,

We have some good news. First, Myles is down in Miami as we speak overseeing the final audio of our new Live DVD and we will be joining him this weekend to check it out and give our final approval. We still don’t have a release date yet but we will let you know as soon as we get one. Word from Myles is that everything sounds great thus far and we are excited to hear the final product.

We have also had word from the director of our DVD, Dan Catullo, that we will have a preview clip ready to go up on Monday. That comes from the man himself so cross your fingers and we assure you that as soon as we get it we will put it up for you to view.

Most importantly, our last writing session was fantastic and a few new songs were born. We now have six songs that we feel are “album ready” at this point, so it seems we are close to having half the album written. We look forward to what the future sessions will bring. We’ll let you know when another one starts.

Since all of you have been voting for us, radio stations across the country are picking the song up. Because of this, Mark and Myles are going to do some acoustic performances for some radio stations in Texas in February. Here is the breakdown…

Feb 12th - Mark and Myles will play a 30 min acoustic set at Smoking Aces in McAllen, TX at 10:00PM. This is a KHKZ event and the only way to get tickets is through the radio station. None will be sold.

Feb 13th - Morning Show appearance at KVLY somewhere between 7:00AM and 8:30AM, if anyone would like to listen.

Feb 13th - 11:30AM acoustic performance for KLTG in Corpus Christi. Mark and Myles will play a 30 min acoustic set inside the station in the Tiki Lounge for contest winners. The only way to see this is to listen to or contact the station.

Feb 13th - Mark and Myles will play an acoustic set at the House of Blues in Houston, TX at 7:00PM. It will be in the Bronze Peacock Room and is a KHMX event. Again, the only way to see this is to listen to or contact the radio station.

In other news, our LIVE DVD is still in the editing process. We will not make our end of February release like we hoped but we will update you with a firm date once the editing is done. In fact, Myles himself will be heading to New York City early next week to see how things are progressing. After that, Myles will catch a plane to Orlando to have a good solid week and a half of writing Alter Bridge III (working title) with Mark until they leave for Texas.

In other news, the editing process continues with our live DVD and we are now shooting for a late April release. That is assuming everything goes as planned, which rarely happens, so we’ll keep our fingers crossed and keep you updated.

Also, the writing continues on our next album, “Alter Bridge III” (working title), and we made some good progress in the week leading up to those Texas shows. We are taking a short break right now but Myles will be back down in Florida soon and we will get right back to it.

In other news we have found out that one of our songs has been chosen for Guitar Hero 5, which will be out later this year. We can’t reveal the song title until the game maker does and we will update you with that info plus a release date later on.

We are still hard at work  writing “Alter Bridge III” (working title). Right now Myles and Mark are writing seperately at their respective homes but the whole band will come together again in late-March to further the process. We are excited to see where this will lead.

On the live DVD front, progress is being made. Myles went to New York to check out how the editing of the concert was looking and he came back very pleased. Sound mixing is due to begin later this month as well. May is looking realistic for a street date barring any unforseen circumstances.

The time for comparing Alter Bridge to Creed is long past, yet there is another noticeable difference between the bands in my-love-was-never-enough-for-you song “Watch Over You.” While Creed earnestly tried to create inspiring music (sometimes too earnestly), bombastic production rendered the effort heavy-handed. But songwriters/Alter Bridge members Myles Kennedy and Mark Tremonti turn a nifty trick of effortlessly making a sad lyric feel uplifting. A lament about a loved one now living unprotected are framed with lite-country acoustics that then take flight with bolder guitars and Kennedy’s unforced tenor, which glides like an eagle. Like the images of nature it invokes, “Watch Over You” is pristine and majestic. ˜Christa L. Titus

The buzz has already begun in the UK as Alter Bridge sold out a show at the Camden Underworld on September 18th in less than an hour!

July 23, 2007 - New York, NY Universal Republic recording artists Alter Bridge have announced the name of their forthcoming second album will be Blackbird.

Clocking in at almost eight minutes, the title track is clearly one of the masterpieces of the new album. “We felt like Blackbird was the perfect song to use as the title track for this record,” lead singer/guitarist Myles Kennedy commented.

“Though a majority of the album is not as dark thematically, we really hoped to draw attention to what we felt was one of the most challenging yet gratifying songs we’ve ever written. It was inspired by a friend of mine who passed away as the song was completed; it’s a story about the struggle to move on to a better place. It was my wish for him to finally find his peace.”

There are many differences between One Day Remains and the band’s new album Blackbird with the most notable being the full integration of Myles Kennedy as a guitarist and songwriter. While One Day Remains was largely written before Myles came on board, this time around, it was a collaborative effort with Mark and Myles sharing the songwriting duties, while all four band members worked on the arrangements.

“It’s a natural evolution after three years of working together,” Mark Tremonti stated. “We knew Myles was an amazing singer, that’s why we hired him. What we found out when we toured the first record was that he’s also an incredibly gifted guitar player and songwriter, as well as a vocalist. It would have been a crime not to utilize all that talent. We wanted to use every weapon we had in our arsenal for this album.”

Blackbird will be the follow up to Alter Bridge’s debut album, the Gold-certified One Day Remains, which peaked at 5 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart its week of release. That release featured three consecutive hits on rock radio: (”Open Your Eyes,” “Find The Real,” and “Broken Wings”). The first single from Blackbird “Rise Today” has already gotten substantial early airplay before the official add date of July 30^th.

Comprised of Mark Tremonti, Scott Phillips, Brian Marshall and Myles Kennedy, three of the four members of Alter Bridge made up the 30+ million selling band Creed. The band will be hitting the road upon the release of Blackbird this fall. Touring details will be released at a later date.

New Album and Tour Planned For This Fall

July 9, 2007 - New York, NY – The members of Alter Bridge are pleased to announce they have signed an agreement to release their next album on Universal Republic Records. This brand new album is scheduled to be released this fall.

The material we’ve been working on is really aggressive and I think it’s the best work we’ve ever done. We can’t wait to get back in front of our loyal fans later this year.”

The recording of the new album was completed in Nashville, TN last month with famed producer Michael “Elvis” Baskette (Incubus, Chevelle, Three Days Grace). The band has also brought on a new management team with Paul Geary & Steve Wood for Azoff Music Management taking the reigns.

Alter Bridge has kept a conspicuously low profile in the United States since a brief tour in October of 2005. The band toured Europe during the summer and fall of 2005 and the summer of 2006 performing at mostly festival shows with the likes of Metallica, Tool, Guns N’ Roses, Alice In Chains, Audioslave, Velvet Revolver, and Black Sabbath.

The band will be hitting the road upon the release of their 2nd album this fall. Touring details and more information on the new album will be released at a later date.
