Alter Bridge News 01/05/09

Hello Alter Bridge Nation,

First off, we would like to wish all of you the best in 2009. And thank you to all who have been voting for our Watch Over You video on the VH1 Top 20 Countdown show. On the first countdown of 2009 this past weekend, we were at number 5. Please continue to vote for us as much as you can (you can vote as many times as you like) because Watch Over You is getting noticed from the VH1 airings and radio stations all over the world are picking it up. In other news, Mark and Myles will be appearing at the NAMM Convention in Anaheim that takes place from Jan 15-18. They will be doing autograph signings for those that attend. Once we get a full schedule we will let you know what the times are.

While they are in Anaheim, they will also take a look at the first edit of the new LIVE DVD. No news yet as to when this will be out but the hope is late February or March.

That is all the news for now and we will keep you updated as time passes.

Bremen, Germany Concert Cancelled

We regret to inform you that our concert in Bremen, Germany at Modernes on December 8th has been cancelled due to production issues with the venue. Due to the fact that we will not be back in Europe in the foreseeable future, the show will not be re-scheduled. All ticketholders can receive refunds from the place that the tickets were originally purchased.

Alter Bridge Live DVD to be Shot in London

Alter Bridge at Roseland Ballroom July 11th

Hello Alter Bridge Nation!We want to let all of you New York fans know about a special show we are doing in conjunction with Major League Baseball. It is a private show, which is why we do not have it under our tour dates, but there is a way to get tickets.

We are opening for Three Days Grace at the Roseland Ballroom on July 11th. Doors open at 8:00PM and only ages 21 and up can attend.

To get tickets you need to visit Modell’s (sporting goods store) and buy $50.00 worth of MLB merchandise. When you do this you will receive two tickets to the show. Tickets are limited and it is on a first come, first serve basis.

Alter Bridge in Australia and New Zealand!!

It has been a long time coming but we are finally going to rock Australia and New Zealand in late August to mid-September for the first time! We will be opening for two great bands: Disturbed and P.O.D.

We are hoping that this will mark the first of many times that we get to rock Australia and New Zealand. So make sure you come to the show early to support us and spread the word!

“Watch Over You” Billboard Review

The time for comparing Alter Bridge to Creed is long past, yet there is another noticeable difference between the bands in my-love-was-never-enough-for-you song “Watch Over You.” While Creed earnestly tried to create inspiring music (sometimes too earnestly), bombastic production rendered the effort heavy-handed. But songwriters/Alter Bridge members Myles Kennedy and Mark Tremonti turn a nifty trick of effortlessly making a sad lyric feel uplifting. A lament about a loved one now living unprotected are framed with lite-country acoustics that then take flight with bolder guitars and Kennedy’s unforced tenor, which glides like an eagle. Like the images of nature it invokes, “Watch Over You” is pristine and majestic. ˜Christa L. Titus
